12 vie for 3 titles at Wolf Lake pageant Friday


The following contestants will contend for the titles of Miss Wolf Lake, Junior Miss and Little Miss pageant Friday, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wolf Lake Lions Hall: (front, from left) Akaiya Birky, Charlee Olds, Charlie Butler; (row 2) Kodian Harris, Kendall Krueger-Pierce, Isabella Schillinger, Rachel Lamasters; (row 3) Emily Aschnewitz, Harley Stroburg, Gabrielle Splonskowski, Grace Hilde, and Sarah Aschnewitz.
The crowning of the 2017 Miss Wolf Lake, Junior Miss and Little Miss will be held Friday, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lions Hall during the 34th annual Wolf Lake Harvest Festival.

Excavating company to save car


Todd Boit, owner of Boit Excavating, plans to save the historic rail car and hopes the artifact finds a good home.

A historic rail car has been tucked inside the former furniture building in Frazee. Although the building is being demolished the train car is being saved.
The historic train in Frazee’s former furniture store may find salvation.

Alex Day, 16, daughter of Brian Day and Shelley Day, was elated as she took her first walk after being crowned Miss Vergas 2017.

Thursday evening new royalty was crowned in Vergas including (front, from left) King Caleb Ratz, Little Miss Vergas Emma Steer, (back) Princess Altona 1st Runner-up Hanna Beck, Princess Altona 2017 Kaylee Baumgart, Miss Vergas 2017 Alex Day and Miss Vergas 1st Runner-up Taylor Wutzke.
