Vergas Trail Committee considers using brick funds for scenic planter construction


The Vergas Municipal Liquor Store hosted a beer and burger night Nov. 16 and raised $502 to donate to the trail. Acting Liquor Store Manager (and City Clerk) Julie Lammers (front, from left) presented the check to trail committee members Dean Haarstick, who is also the Vergas mayor, Steph Hogan, (back) Curt Fosse, Pat Prunty and Pat Shannon.
The Vergas Trail Committee has raised enough from selling bricks to cover the costs of installing a planter at the scenic overlook where the trail would meet Tin Can Alley.

Kidney transplant takes financial toll on FHS grad, benefit Saturday


A benefit on behalf of Jessie Quade will be held Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Frazee VFW from 3-7 p.m.
The family of Jessie Quade has watched her struggle through two kidney transplants, and to ease the burden of bills they arranged a benefit in honor of the 1999 Frazee High School graduate.

Three locals place in Tamarac photo contest


Kristie Yliniemi entered this photograph titled “Rattle N Roll” in the recreation category of the Tamarac Refuge’s annual photo contest. She placed second.
Tamarac Wildlife Refuge recently announced the winners of its 15th annual photography contest. 
 
Locals Diane Turcotte, Kristie Yliniemi and Bailey Yliniemi were each recognized for submissions.
