Cally’s Corner: ‘Respect your elders’


Cally and husband Darby Nundahl live in rural Frazee and have six children. Cally enjoys spending time with family and friends, quilting, writing, painting, the outdoors and the country life. She is a writer, photographer, typesetter and proofreader for the Frazee-Vergas Forum.

 It’s hard not to say anything when you see one person disrespecting another.

The history of Frazee: 1891


Albert (Ike) Fischer was born June 12, 1921, in Frazee where he grew up and attended school. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II he returned to the family farm near Frazee. He married Larene Haas. Their daughter Lori and son-in-law Don Thorp, Frazee, have two sons, Martin and Roger, and now live on the family farm while Ike and Larene reside in town.

 The petition for incorporation as a village was filed Feb.

Around the Bend: Taking a step at the start line of real exercising


Daneele and her husband Jay Shipman live in rural Frazee with their children Carter and Cassidy. Daneele is originally from the Chicago area, but has lived in Frazee for over 20 years. Daneele enjoys reading, quilting, knitting and gardening. She is a freelance writer for the Frazee-Vergas Forum and a Frazee Area Community Club director.

 This month I embarked on a fitness challenge which included attending exercise boot camp led by Ki Fett at Northern Lights Dance Academy in Frazee.

 For those who have not toured Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge lately, now’s the time to hit the road.

 Sunday my mom and I took the slow tour ... so slow the park ranger  talked to us once and waved at us another time.

Cally’s Corner: Good friends – much needed therapy


Cally and husband Darby Nundahl live in rural Frazee and have six children. Cally enjoys spending time with family and friends, quilting, writing, painting, the outdoors and the country life. She is a writer, photographer, typesetter and proofreader for the Frazee-Vergas Forum.

 There are days when a person forgets to take the time to enjoy life and relax. When life gets so busy people tend to forget to laugh and spend time with friends and loved ones.

 Lately I have been that busy.

 We tend to be impressed by unusual or unexpected experiences, don’t we?

 Or something catastrophic occurs, which is unfortunate.

 Oct. 17, 1890. The new elevator at Frazee is completed and makes an appearance quite an improvement to the town.

 Father’s Day has always been a bittersweet day for me after losing my dad at a young age. Oftentimes, Father’s Day falls on the actual day I lost my dad.
