The wrong kind of childcare

Emma lives just outside of Detroit Lakes with her significant other Charles, together they have a daughter named Adeline who keeps them on their toes. Emma is a native of Princeton and loves living in the lakes area. In her free time she enjoys going to the local zoo, going on nature walks, watching movies and playing with her daughter.
That moment when you drop your child off at daycare, they start to cry and scream. You hope it's just age appropriate separation anxiety and not fear of their current surroundings.

Every morning as I wake up I can’t help but feel that summer is slipping away.

While it’s officially over Sept. 22, there is no doubt it’s felt like fall for a little while now.

Letter: Reaction to Charlottesville

Leland Jenson, Detroit Lakes
Leland Jenson, Detroit Lakes
Circa 1860-1861, at the onset of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln said that he and Jefferson Davis both believed in God, but that he hoped his God would win. Thankfully Lincoln’s God prevailed.

Fairs, festivals & fun

Friends at the fair: (from left) Hannah, Angela, Autumn, CallaBelle, Brandon, Cole, and Brock. How many teenagers can you fit in the strawberry tilt-a-whirl?
In a recent column I wrote about how grateful I am for small-town living, with all the benefits and wonderful things about it. Small-town fairs and festivals create some of the best memories with family and friends.

This past week, the walls came crumbling down on many business memories as Gary’s Furniture buildings came tumbling down.
