The banquet started with introductions and thanks to the coaches.

The Frazee Hornets qualified eight individuals for the state wrestling tournament at individual sections Feb. 20-21 in Glyndon with seven of those eight being crowned champions.

Frazee wrestling team wins 8A title to advance to state for 22nd time


The Frazee High School wrestlering team dominated the Section 8A tournament Feb. 14 and won a berth at state, set Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. This will be the team’s 22nd trip overall, and their third straight trip to state, the 9th in the last 10 years. Frazee won its three section duals with a combined score of 177-42. The Hornets have won four state championships over the years, the last title was as co-champs in 2011. Last year, the team placed fourth. Team action in St. Paul starts at 11 a.m., with quarterfinals, followed by place matches at 5 p.m., and the championship at 7 p.m. Tammie Nunn photo
