The clock is winding down.
Four fighters from Frazee – Brian Heden, Kyler Wegner, Zach Sullinger and Kody Sorenson – are set to enter the cage Saturday night in Kent Freeman Arena at Detroit Lakes to begin combat at 7 p.m. Doors will be open at 6 p.m.
Chris Holt, spokesman for Full Nelson Promotions (FNP), related this week that a total of nine bouts are on tap, with veterans Heden and Wegner the co-headliners.
He expects tough contests at the top of the card, with preliminary bouts featuring amateur mixed martial arts contestants.
“We’re expecting a great card,” Chris Holt said this week. “We will have some top guys from around the state coming in.”
Heden has had more than 30 fights. Currently, he is the No. 4-ranked heavyweight in Minnesota and will battle Shane DeZee, Minneapolis, who has had about three dozen ring battles. They will square off at 265 pounds.
Wegner will go up to 205, although he generally has been fighting at 185. His foe, Davonta Nunn, Minneapolis, can’t get down to the 195 plateau.
So the former Hornet wrestler and football player for the Screaming Eagles will be at light heavyweight, rather than in the middleweight category.
Sullinger will battle Fargo’s Corey Ulmer at 145 pounds, while Kody Sorenson will square off with Chris Renwick at 205 pounds.
Tickets are still available, Holt said. They can be secured by calling 218-298-2413 and asking for Holt.
Prices are $15 in advance for general admission, and $20 at the door on fight night. Floor seating locations will be $25 in advance or $30 fight night. Table seating for a party of 10 will be $400.
