The Waggin’ Trail Ride to benefit Humane Society of the Lakes will be held this weekend Friday to Sunday, May 17 starting at 3 p.m. until May 19 with check out by noon.

The event, sponsored by the Midwest Minnesota Harness Club, is being held in rural Frazee at the Jon and Sheila Jackson farm. J&S Ranch is located at 30312 137th St., Frazee.

Jon and Sheila are hosting the western-themed shindig and have enjoyed doing fundraisers like this when they lived in Ottertail, raising money for the humane society and another to raise money to buy instruments for U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Jacksons welcome early bird campers Friday at 3 with a short ride. Primitive camping with water and port-a-potties available. Bring food, drink, horses, wagons, trailers, campers, tents, or sleep out under the stars. All horses need a record of a Coggins test.

Saturday register from 8-10 a.m. for the Waggin’ Trail Ride that leaves at 10 with nice trails all day. After the ride about 5:30 p.m. everyone is welcome to the BBQ picnic back at J&S Ranch. Auctioneer Darby Nundahl will conduct an auction full of fun items with all proceeds going to the humane society.

After the auction at the bonfire, kick up your boots and dance to DJ Jimmy Colby for the night. For those who don’t ride – everyone is still welcome to come for the BBQ. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Sunday morning all campers can check out by noon.

The cost for the weekend is $20 per person, $30 per couple or $40 per family if the children are under 16 years old. All Midwest Minnesota Harness Club rules apply.

The event is open to the public, so please come out and support the Humane Society of the Lakes. Jon added, “Cowboy up and see you all at the ride.”
