This year the Miss Frazee pageant organization wanted to try something new and different by having the outgoing Miss Frazees recognize an inspirational person from the community who left an impact during their reigns.

Miss Frazee 2022 Marcella George selected Joan Ketter.

“One of the many reasons why I have chosen Joan Ketter to be the community member I recognize is due to her abundant consideration and heart of gold for not only the Miss Frazee organization but the community of Frazee,” said George. “Last year, before the Frazee parade, not only did Joan welcomingly open up her home to us but she made sure that me and Katie Courneya did not get on to the float till the very last second to make sure that we didn’t die out in the heat. Along with feeding us snacks and her wonderful Rhubarb punch right after the parade so that we had a minute to cool down before we were off to the derby. Joan’s desire to serve this community in any way that she can, is why, without a doubt, she is the person I chose to recognize.”

Miss Frazee Teen 2022 Katie Courneya selected her neighbor and friend Mary Olson.

“Some people have to look all over to find someone that they can look in the eye and say, ‘You have made a huge difference in my life,’” said Courneya. “I have been lucky enough to find that person and the best part is she lives just across the corn field. Mary Olson has not only been helpful this year but she has helped me since the day we first met. Mary is an amazing person and community member. She is a big part of Neighbor to Neighbor, Meals on Wheels, and she organizes local blood drives. I will always strive to be like her. She makes a difference in the lives of everyone she meets. This is a quote I once heard and it is a perfect example of Mary, ‘Just like the sun, you spread warmth and inspire life just by being you!’ Thank you Mary for all you have done for me!”
