Frazee is currently 6-6 overall, 2-1 in HOL

The Frazee Hornets improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a pair of wins and a tough loss to Hawley last week.

After picking up a 3-0 win over the Rothsay Tigers in non-conference action last Monday night, the Hornets hosted HOL Conference newcomer Park Rapids Area on Tuesday night and secured a 3-1 win over the Panthers. On Thursday night the Hornets fell to Hawley by a score of 3-0 to drop to 2-1 in the conference.

This week the Hornets hosted Mahnomen/Waubun in non-conference action on Monday night, before traveling to Staples-Motley on Thursday in HOL Conference action. On Saturday the team will travel to Barnesville for a tournament.

On Monday the Hornets will return home for a non-conference game against the Menahga Braves, before hosting Perham on Oct. 3 in the annual Battle of the Bees contest. 

Monday

Frazee secured a 3-0 non-conference win on the road last Monday night as the Hornets defeated Rothsay 3-0. 

The Hornets secured a win in the first game by a score of 25-13, before finishing off the Tigers with wins of 25-22, 25-19 to complete the three game sweep. 

As a team the Hornets finished with 37 kills and were led by Jayden Sonnenberg with 11, while Ruby Eckert chipped in with seven. Hailee Olson led the way with 28 assists and Analise Olson finished with a team high 14 digs.

Tuesday

The Hornets improved to 2-0 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a 3-1 win over Park Rapids Area on Tuesday night. 

Frazee jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-22 and 25-15 wins in the opening two games of the night. The Panthers fought back with a  25-20 win in the third game to force a fourth set in the contest. In a back-and-forth game from the opening tip,
the Hornets were able to do just enough down the stretch to come away with a 25-23 win in the fourth game to secure a 3-1 conference victory.

Jayden Sonnenberg once again had a solid night at the net as she finished with a team-high 14 kills, while Ruby Eckert finished with seven kills of her own. As a team the Hornets finished with 45 total kills.

Eckert also led the team with 15 digs, while Sophia Strand finished with 10 and Rylee Stock finished with nine digs. Hailee Olson finished with three ace serves and Brynn Larson finished with four block assists in the 3-1 win.

Thursday

After winning its opening two games of the conference season, Frazee fell to Hawley by a score of 3-0 on Thursday night. The Hornets were unable to counter a tough Nugget offensive attack on the road as they fell by scores of 25-12, 25-22, 25-20 to fall to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the HOL Conference. 

Ruby Eckert led the way offensively as she finished with six of the Hornets 22 team kills. Hailee Olson finished with 15 assists, while Katie Courneya finished with a team-high 13 digs in the loss.
