Notice is hereby given that the Vergas City Council will conduct a Public Hearing regarding a updating its comprehensive plan. A comprehensive plan is an expression of a community’s vision for the future and a strategic map to reach that vision. Comprehensive planning is an important tool for cities to guide future development of land to ensure a safe, pleasant, and economical environment for residents to live work and play.

The Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee has sought to engage the community’s input throughout the planning process by providing information on the city’s website, conducting a community wide survey, and by hosting a series of public engagement opportunities.

The Steering Committee, Planning Commission and City Staff have worked hard to not only seek public input throughout this process but also to translate local community input into tangible goals and strategies that can be used by both city staff and elected officials to guide the community in the coming years. This public review and comment period is one more opportunity for members of the community to participate in the comprehensive plan update process.

All interested parties are invited to attend and will be given the opportunity to ask questions and to provide public input and/or comments. If you are unable to attend the hearing, you are invited to submit your comments in writing to the City Clerk-Treasurer prior to the scheduled hearing. Written comments and questions will be addressed at the hearing and a written response will be provided by the City. Non-English-speaking residents and other persons with special needs who plan to attend the hearing are asked to contact City Hall (218) 302-5996 prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made to address any specific requirements.
