500 miles and walking, NCT hiker visits Frazee


Luke Jordan (left) walked through Vergas and arrived in Frazee Friday night. Frazee Mayor Hank Ludtke welcomed him with hospitality and a meal.

 After walking about 500 miles, Luke Jordan found himself in Frazee with another 4,500 miles to go.

Shell Lake hit by low oxygen levels, others ‘hanging in there’


Mostly dead northern pike litter the Shell River at the outlet of Shell Lake.

 As if sportsmen don’t have enough anxiety over whether the fishing season will start with people in boats or drilling holes through ice, now there are lakes reportedly suffering from winterkill.
