PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING 

PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENTS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Vergas City Council will hold public hearing on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. to be held in the Council Chambers at the Vergas Event Center, 140 W Linden, Vergas, Minnesota, and on zoom id number 267-094-2170 to consider a tax abatement within the City of Vergas pursuant to Minnesota Statute 469.1813 and 116J.993 through 116J.995.  The requests are to abate 100% of the increase to the City of Vergas portion of real estate taxes related to the commercial located at 100 S Railway Avenue building improvements on the subject properties for a period of up to 5 years.  

All interested parties are invited to attend and will be given the opportunity to ask questions and to provide public input and/or comments.  If you are unable to attend the hearing, you are invited to submit your comments in writing to the City Clerk-Treasurer prior to the scheduled hearing.  Written comments or questions will be addressed at the hearing and a written response will be provided by the City.  Non-English-speaking residents and other persons with special needs who plan to attend the hearing are asked to contact City Hall (218) 342-2091 prior to the hearing so that arrangements can be made to address any special requirements.

In Re: Estate of Maurice Francis Gagnier, Decedent.

It is Ordered and Notice is given that on June 23, 2021 at 1:15 p.m., a hearing will be held in this Court at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on a petition for Determination of Descent of the Estate of Decedent.

Any objections to the petition must be filed with the Court prior to the hearing. If proper and if no objections, the petition will be granted.

(1) Notice shall be given to all interested persons (Minn. Stat 524.1-401) and persons who have filed a demand for notice pursuant to Minn. Stat 524.3-204. 

(2) Notice shall be given by mailing a copy of this Notice and Order by U.S. Postal Service at least 14 days prior to the hearing date.

(3) Notice shall also be given by publication once per week for two (2) consecutive weeks in a legal newspaper in the county where the hearing is to be held, the last publication of which is to be at least ten (10) days before the time set for the hearing.

It is the landowner’s responsibility to control noxious weeds on their property, specifically: Leafy Spurge, Hoary Alyssum, Spotted Knapweed, Absinth Wormwood, Wild Parsnip, Common Tansy, Purple Loosestrife, Narrowleaf Bittercress, Houndstongue, Orange/Yellow Hawkweed and Canada/PlumelessThistles by cutting, spraying or cultivating. The Burlington Township Board will be conducting their annual weed inspection tour meeting of all Burlington Township residents on June 16, 2021, beginning at 7:30am, leaving from the Burlington Town Hall.
