In last Tuesday’s game against Hawley, the Hornets fell by a score of 71-42, before dropping a game to DGF on the road by a score of 57-44. Individual stats for those games were not received by the time of press.

Annika Reierson hit four 3-pointers and went an impressive 8-11 from the floor as the junior finished with a game high 24 points in Frazee’s Heart O’ Lakes Conference game against Perham on Jan. 21. The junior helped the Hornets overcome a 27-19 halftime deficit to outscore Perham 29-25 in the final 18 minutes of action.

The Yellowjackets hit a couple of key free throws late in the game, but not before Frazee pushed the previously unbeaten Yellowjackets to the verge of defeat. Perham came away with the win by a score of 52-48.

The Hornets outshot the Yellowjackets from the field by a 43.2 percent to 37.3 percent margin and went 9-16 from behind the 3-point line, but 24 turnovers proved to be too much to overcome. The Yellowjackets turned those Frazee turnovers into 26 points and also held a 20-8 advantage inside the paint.

Nonetheless the Hornets nearly pulled off the upset thanks to nine 3-pointers and a couple of timely stops on defense.

In addition to Reierson, Dani Piche finished with 8 points, while Harley Kropuenske finished with 6, Autumn Hiemenz and Madison Starry each had 3, Ellie Reierson had 2 points and Kaidence Mayfield and Madison Olson each finished with 1 point.

Just two nights after nearly upsetting the Perham Yellowjackets, the Frazee Hornets had another tall task at hand as they traveled to Pelican Rapids to take on the Vikings.

The Vikings missed just 13 shots from the field in the entire game as they shot 59.4 percent from the field as they won by a score of 53-31. The Hornets turned the ball over 19 times and shot 30 percent from the field, but were able to hit 6-17 shots from behind the 3-point line. One of the reasons the Vikings shot nearly 60 percent from the field was their points in the paint, in which they held a 28-4 advantage and 20 points off of Frazee turnovers.

Frazee’s defense played strong throughout the night as the Hornets forced 15 Pelican Rapids turnovers and had 8 steals in the loss.

Madison Starry led the charge offensively for the Hornets as she finished with 10 points, while Dani Piche scored 8 points, Annika Reierson 6, Kaidence Mayfield 4 and Kate Vigen rounded out the scoring with 3 points.
