Frazee improved to 5-6 overall and fell to 2-5 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference, as the Hornets split a pair of games last week.

On Tuesday the Hornets defeated Wadena-Deer Creek by a score of 77-59, before falling to Barnesville by a score of 79-54 in HOL action on Friday night.

This week the Hornets will travel to the 2-7 Park Rapids Area Panthers, before hosting the 5-5 overall and 3-5 in the HOL Pelican Rapids Vikings on Thursday.

Tuesday

Frazee shot over 48 percent from the floor and made 20-34 on shots inside the 3-point line as the Hornets defeated WDC by a score of 77-59 on Tuesday night. The Hornets forced 22 Wolverine turnovers, which led to 20 points on the Frazee end of the court. Frazee also came away with 12 steals, while having 24 assists on 29 made shots from the field.

The Hornets held a 41-28 lead at halftime, and continued to find success on the offensive end of the court in the second half, as they outscored the Wolverines by a 36-31 margin in the final 18 minutes of action.

Jack Courneya hit four 3-pointers as he led the offensive charge with 24 points. Justin Courneya hit five 3-pointers of his own to finish with 20 points and Broden Fleisher went 4-6 from the field as he finished with 13 points. George Flynn also reached double figures with 10 points, while Reid Eckert scored 6 points and Nathan Johannsen rounded out the scoring with 4 points.

Friday

Frazee outshot Barnesville from the field and blocked 10 Trojan shots, but 23 Hornet turnovers and seven Trojan 3-pointers proved to be too much for the Hornets to overcome on Friday night.

While the Hornets shot 40 percent from the field, Barnesville was able to make the most of each of the Hornets’ turnovers as they held a 27-8 margin in that department. Frazee was also able to hit just 1-16 shots from behind the 3-point line as they tried to mount a comeback in the second half.

Jack Courneya led the way offensively as he scored 14 points, while Johannsen scored 10 points of his own. Eckert and Flynn each finished with 9 points, while Justin Courneya and Fleisher each scored 4 points, Ryan Kangas scored 2 points and Jonny Parsons and Ian Cottrell rounded out the scoring with 1 point apiece.
