A popular question around town lately seems to be, when is the Frazee area city-wide rummage sale?

During last year’s city-wide rummage sale event there was a classic car up for grabs. Shoppers can see what unique and popular items will be for sale in an upcoming issue of the Frazee-Vergas Forum.

Well get those tables ready for those gently used items to be put up for sale, as the date for the popular event has been set for Saturday, June 12 (although many hold the event Friday and Saturday as well).

In past years, the event that includes Frazee, Vergas and the rural areas surrounding the communities, have averaged 40 or more sales. And reports from those holding official sales (during and after the event) have consistently come back with positive reviews and heavy traffic from shoppers looking for a deal.

For sellers, the newspaper puts together an easy guide where items that will be for sale can be listed. The city-wide garage sale page will be printed the Tuesday prior to the big weekend, along with a map  showing where the garage sales are located.

Those looking to make extra cash this summer, be sure to get on the official sales list. Doing so  makes the sale a priority for shoppers, and without community support the city-wide event wouldn’t be possible.

Also, being on the list will increase the number of shoppers stopping to potentially buy an item. Oftentimes shoppers use the items list and map to plan their shopping excursion, with some starting at the crack of dawn.

The nominal fee of $10 gets sellers 25 words to promote their goods (the address counts as one word only). If the list is long, additional words can be added for 25 cents per word. The deadline to get signed up is Thursday, June 3 at 12 p.m.

In addition to reaching thousands of potential shoppers, each advertiser also receives official Frazee city-wide garage sale signs and balloons.

Those writing an ad should include the sale time, address, items and some in the country like to add directions as well. The information can be dropped off in the office, or e-mailed to fforum@loretel.net. Payments can paid in person or with a credit card over the phone.
