Frazee drops a pair to Hawley in HOL action

The Frazee softball team dropped a double header to Hawley on Thursday night. The Hornets fell to the undefeated Nuggets by scores of 10-0 and 8-2.
In the opening game of the night, the Hornets were within striking distance throughout the game until the Nuggets scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to essentially put the game out of reach.
The Hornets struck first in the top of the first inning when Dani Piche led off the game with a triple. She would later score in the inning to make the game 1-0. The Nuggets answered with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning to make the game 2-1, before Faith Hamm hit an RBI triple to bring Annika Reierson across the plate with two outs to tie the game at 2-2.
The game remained 2-2 until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Nuggets scored 2 more runs to make the game 4-2, before scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Piche led the way offensively in the game with a pair of hits, including a triple.
In the second game of the night, Anissa Antonsen broke up a perfect game when she led off the inning with a lead off double. She was the lone Frazee runner to reach base in the game as the Nuggets ended the game in the fifth inning by the 10-run rule.
Hawley scored 3 runs in the first and third innings, while scoring a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to come away with the win.
The Hornets are currently 6-6 on the season and in third place in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a record of 4-4. This week the Hornets will travel to Perham on Tuesday for a double header against the Yellowjackets, before hosting the Menahga Braves in non-conference action on Thursday.
