Starting on Monday, June 14, State Highway 87 will be impassable just west of the County Road 33/County Road 115 intersection, as crews replace a box culvert. The culvert replacement is expected to take up to two weeks to complete. During the work, local traffic will need to find an alternate route around the culvert site.

Highway 87 remains closed to thru-traffic between County Road 29 (known as Birch Avenue in Frazee) and Highway 71 in Menahga. Access is being maintained for residents and businesses along the work zone.

In addition to the upcoming culvert replacement, the roadway is also impassable between North River Drive and Main Avenue East while crews replace the bridge over the Otter Tail River in Frazee.

For this project, crews are reconstructing and resurfacing 26 miles of pavement, widening shoulders between Frazee and Evergreen, replacing centerline pipes and two box culverts. Shoulder-widening operations have started east of Frazee, and paving is complete east of Evergreen to the Becker/Wadena County Line.

Thru-traffic remains detoured to County Road 29, Highway 34 and Highway 71. The detour will add an additional 20 miles to travel, so motorists should plan ahead.

Local traffic should watch for heavy equipment, flaggers and other traffic control, which may change daily depending on where crews are working. Expect delays, short-term closures and periodic stops along the entire work zone.
