The Frazee Hornet softball team swept a double header with Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on June 15.

The Hornets made quick work of the Titans with a 17-2 win, thanks to a 7 run first inning, a 4 run second inning and 6 run bottom of the third inning. All of the damage in the first inning came with two outs. Frazee’s first two batters of the game were retired in order, before nine straight hitters reached base safely.

Frazee’s bats stayed hot throughout the game as 10 batters came to the plate in the second inning and the game came to a close on a Faith Hamm RBI single to end the game by the 15-run rule.

Rylea Sandberg had a big game from the plate as she went 2-3 with 3 RBIs. She got an RBI in each of her three at bats in the game. Alexis Heaton also chipped in with a 2-run double in the first inning and Anna Drewes scored 3 runs in the win.

In its other game on June 15th against the Titans, the Hornets were able to outslug the Titans to come away with a 12-10 win.

Frazee scored 5 runs in the first inning when 5 of the first 6 batters scored a run as the Hornets took advantage of 2 hit batters and 5 walks.

Frazee struck again in the second inning when Nicollette Clark hit an RBI triple to bring Hamm around to score. She would later cross the plate herself to make the game 7-6 in favor of the Hornets.

After Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal took a 10-7 lead in the top half of the third inning, the Hornets put the game out of reach when they erupted for 5 more runs to come away with a 12-10 win.

Anna Drewes had a big game from the plate as she went 2-3 with a 2-run single in the third inning.

June 22

The Frazee fastpitch team dropped a pair of games to Hawley on June 22.

In its 11-0 loss to the Nuggets, Brea Paurus broke up a no-hitter from Hawley with a single to lead off the fourth inning. It would be the only hit the Hornets could get in the game, despite earning a pair of walks in the loss.

In its other game, the Hornets were unable to overcome an early deficit as Hawley scored 3 runs in the first inning and a pair of runs in both the second and third inning to come away with an 8-6 win.

The Hornets scored 1 run tripple in the third inning, before Kiley Karger hit a 3 run trip in the fifth inning and Sandberg followed with an RBI single of her own to make the game 8-5 in favor of Hawley.

The final run of the game came in the sixth inning, but not before the Hornets were able to load the bases and get the go-ahead run on base.
