Frazee High School may have a new principal soon. The school board will hold a special meeting Wednesday, July 27 to discuss offering the high school principal position to Anna Potvin. Potvin is a Peer Coach at the Pine City School District. She earned her administration certificate in 2016 from St. Mary’s University, Minneapolis. She earned a master’s in science in 2006 and a bachelor’s in biology in 2003, both from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Frazee Police Chief Mike Johnson submitted his letter of resignation to the city. His final day of work is set for Monday, August 8.
Frazee Turkey Days ’16 will kick off this Friday and run through Sunday. Each day will include many family fun events, filled with food, games and lots of entertainment. The Parade is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. followed by the Demolition Derby.

Five contestants are vying for the title of Miss Vergas. The pageant will be held on Thursday at the Vergas Community Center. Contestants are Stephanie Issendorf of Vergas, Jennifer Heath of Detroit Lakes, Melissa Kroshus, Jamon Trieglaff and Kathy Williams , all of Frazee.
Turkey Farms, headquartered in Frazee, is expanding its operation by about 40 percent. Owners David Jr., and wife Robin Burkel received the go ahead Monday to put in a 12 barn unit in a new location in Twin Valley. The new facility will increase turkey production by about 18 million pounds per year, and bring the entire operation to about 40 million pounds annually. The Burkels of Frazee operate turkey farms in Frazee, Luce and Christine N.D. as well. All of the turkeys produced by the Frazee- based business are processed through Jenny-O, a Minnesota based operation.
Crystal Andersen, 16, Frazee recorded her second compact disc July 13-14 in Nashville, Tenn., with AMI Records at Hill Top Studios. The new CD features 10 songs, including two songs from her 1994 demo CD, “Stone Love” and “Tell Me Why.” The CD should be released near Christmas. Crystal is the daughter of Wilfred and Eileen Andersen of Frazee.

An estimated $400 in cash was taken by a person or persons who broke into the Frazee VFW Club last Tuesday night. The thieves broke into the building by forcing the front door open and exiting out the back door. It doesn’t appear that any of the inventory was taken, checks and small change were left behind as well.
The Pet and Doll Parade will be held Sunday August 15 during the Frazee Turkey Days. The theme this year is “Storybook Friends on Parade.” All boys and girls 12 years and under of Frazee and the surrounding community are invited to enter.
Frazee will be the site of the second annual Little League baseball tournament on Saturday, July 31.
