The Vergas Planning Commission created a committee to head up the city comprehensive plan.

During the meeting on Monday, Aug. 23, Vergas City Clerk Julie Lammers informed the group the comprehensive planning committee would create the plan, schedule public hearings and so forth.

West Central Initive will work with the group to create the comprehensive plan. It was recommended the target completion date be pushed back from March 2022, so summer residents would have the opportunity to give input as well. It was agreed the completion date could be more flexiable, and a comprehensive planning committee formed.

Future of Townline Road to be discussed

The commission reviewed what happened at the public hearing regarding the plan to dedicate Townline Road. It was noted the landowners expressed concerns over assessments of having the road paved at some point in the future.

The commission asked if supervisors in Hobart Township had been contacted to discuss plans they had for the road, as a portion of it is in city limits and another section in the township.

Lammers said the township holds its monthly meeting the same day as the city council. Because the council meetings generally last two or more hours, the commission asked Lammers to send a request to have a supervisor or township representative attend the council meeting to discuss the road.
