Hornets to compete at Detroit Lakes on Thursday

Nathan Johannsen took ninth place and Braylee Riewer took 67th place overall at the Perham “Brave Like Gabe” Early Bird meet at Arvig Park in Perham on Aug. 28. The large meet featured nearly 20 teams from across Minnesota and North Dakota.

Johannsen finished in ninth place with a time of 17:25.42 to lead the charge for the Hornets. Carter Sonnenberg took 88th place with a time of 21:21.23, Brady Borah finished in 89th place with a time of 21:26.16, Keeping Jayden took 91st place with a time of 21:31.10, Jonah Sharp took 100th place with a time of 22:03.12, Cael Pausch finished in 101st place with a time of 22:09.16 and Alex Helmers rounded out the boys varsity team with a time of 23:09.98 to finish in 106th place.

On the girls side, Riewer paced the Hornets with a time of 23:49.22, which was good enough for 67th place overall. Bailey Larsen finished in 76th place with a time of 24:30.16, Sydney Rodeman finished in 102nd place with a time of 26:20.18, Alexis Mack finished in 105th place with a time of 27:04.86, Taylor Perrine took 106th place with a time of 27:09.27, Claire Pausch finished in 107th place with a time of 27:23.17 and Amanda Danielson finished in 111th place with a time of 31:13.10.

As a team, the girls took 16th place overall with 449 points and the boys finished in 15th place with 369 points. Moorhead won the girls meet with a score of 61 points, while West Fargo Sheyenne won the boys meet with 66 points.
