Hornet boys, girls take eighth place overall as teamsĀ

Nathan Johannsen took fifth place overall at the Detroit Lakes cross country meet on Thursday. Johannsen finished with a time of 18:21.14 and was able to out kick Jaden Miller of Fergus Falls down the stretch for the top five honors. Miller finished with a time of 18:22.39.

Jonathan Krueger of East Grand Forks won the meet with a time 17:42.27, while Joel Brault of Alexandria took second with a time of 17:43.11. 

  Also competing for the boys team was Cael Pausch, who finished in 51st place with a time of 21:54.09; Jonah Sharp, who finished in 52nd place with a time of 22:00.10; Alexx Helmers, who finished in 64th place with a time of 22:47.90; Skylure Lehman, who finished in 87th place with a time of 24:16.90; Jayden Keeping, who finished in 91st place with a time of 24:45.91 and Carter Sonnenberg, who finished in 92nd place with a time of 24:47.05.

As a team, the boys finished in eighth place with 195 points. Fergus Falls won the meet with 57 points, while the Hornets finished just behind Pelican Rapids with 180 points and ahead of Detroit lakes with 223 points. 

On the girls side of the meet, the Hornets took eighth place as a team with a score of 194. Detroit Lakes finished in seventh place with a score of 137 and Alexandria won the meet with a score of 22. 

The Hornets were led by Braylee Riewer, who finished in 26th place overall with a time of 24:31.12. Bailey Larsen took 40th place with a time of 26:11.67, while Sydney Rodeman was right on her heels as she took 41st place with a time of 26:21.21. Alexis Mack took 58th place with a time of 28:01.45, while Claire Pausch took 63rd place with a time of 28:30.57, McKenzie Wake finished in 74th place with a time of 33:16.71 and Amanda Danielson took 75th place with a time of 33:16.79. 

This week the Hornets will travel to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Monday for their only meet of the week.
