Girls take 14th place, boys finish in 16th place

The Frazee girls cross country team tied New York Mills for 14th place at the large Perham Yellowjackets Harrier Classic on Thursday night. With 117 runners in the girls varsity race and 134 in the boys, the meet attracted teams from Lakeville South, Moorhead, Little Falls, Fergus Falls and beyond.

Braylee Riewer was the top finisher for the Frazee girls team as she took 61st place with a time of 22:40.7. Bailey Larson was close behind in 80th place with a time of 23:55.44, while Alexis Mack took 86th place with a time of 24:54.16 and eighth grader Taylor Perrine took 91st place with a time of 25:16.15. 

Claire Pausch took 100th place with a time of 27:08.10 and McKenzie Wake finished in 105th place with a time of 28:04.91. 

Lakeville South won the girls meet with 40 points, while Perham took second with 69. The Hornets tied NY Mills with 390 points, which was good enough for 14th place. 

The Frazee boys were once again paced by Nathan Johannsen who raced among the leaders for much of the race as he took 15th place with a time of 17:0378. He was just over half a second behind Ashton Niemi, of Bemidji, for 14th place.

Brady Borah was the next finisher for the Hornets as the sophomore took 96th place with a time of 20:14.10, Alex Helmers took 100th place with a time of 20:30.24, Cael Pausch took 106th place with a time of 20:52.33 and eighth grader Jonah Sharp took 107th place with a time of 20:58.2. Keeping Jayden took 114th place with a time of 21:34.23 and Skylure Lehman rounded out the Hornet runners by taking 115th place with a time of 21:43.39.

There were a total of 134 runners in the boys meet and 18 complete teams. 

Perham won the meet with 70 points, while Lakeville South took second with 85. The Hornets finished in 16th place with a team score of 412. 

This week the Hornets will travel to Breckenridge for the Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet, before competing in Park Rapids next Monday, Oct. 18.
