Frazee senior places sixth at Section 8A meet

Nathan Johannsen will be competing at the state cross country meet on Saturday after placing sixth at the section cross country meet on Friday.

Frazee senior Nathan Johannsen will be making a return to the state cross country meet as he took sixth place at the Section 8A meet on Friday. Johannsen finished the section meet with a time of 17:14.

Braylee Riewer wrapped up her senior season of cross country with a 42nd place finish at the section cross country meet last week.

Cael Pausch was the second Hornet to cross the finish line as the sophomore took 43rd place with a time of 19:24. Brady Borah took 60th place with a time of 19:58, eighth grader Jonah Sharp took 60th place with a time of 20:10 and Alexx Helmers took 79th place with a time of 21:01.

Perham won the boys meet with a total score of 34 points, while Park Rapids Area took second place with 72 points. As a team, the Hornets finished in 10th place out of 16 complete teams competing at the meet. 

On the girls side of the meet, Braylee Riewer wrapped up her cross country career with a 42nd place finish with a time of 22:38. Senior Alexis Mack took 59th place with a time of 24:04, Bailey Larson took 64th place with a time of 24:21 and eighth grader Taylor Perrine took 66th place with a time of 24:30. 

Perham won the girls meet with a total score of 35, while Hawley took second place with a score of 42. 

The state cross country meet is set for Saturday at St. Olaf College in the Twin Cities. The Class A state cross country meet will get underway at 12 p.m. with the girls meet to follow at 1 p.m.
