Hornets fall to Ashby in non-conference action

Frazee fell to 0-5 last week as the Hornets dropped a pair of games to Ashby and Perham.
On Tuesday night the Hornets fell to Ashby in non-conference action by a score of 64-36 before falling to Perham in Heart O’ Lakes Conference action on Friday night by a score of 85-26.
The Hornets will look to rebound this week when they travel to Barnesville in HOL action on Tuesday night. They will then be off until they travel to Legacy Christian for the annual Legacy Christian holiday tournament on Wednesday Dec. 29. Four teams will be participating in the tournament including Park Christian Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Legacy Christian and the Hornets.
Tuesday
A talented Ashby Arrows team came out on fire on Tuesday night as they hit 50 percent from the field and made six 3-pointers to come away with a 64-36 win. The Arrows jumped out to a 38-11 lead at halftime while the Hornets were able to match Ashby point-for-point int he second half.
One of the biggest differences in the came was turnovers as the Hornets turned the ball over 27 times which led to 31 points off of turnovers for the Arrows.
Nathan Johannsen led the charge offensively for Frazee as the senior scored 11 points and pulled down 4 rebounds.
Asher Blaine made the most of his time on the court as he scored 7 points and had 2 steals in limited action while Alex Helmers scored 4 points, Adam Vigen scored 3 points, Ian Cottrell scored 3 points, George Flynn scored 2 points, Max Matejka scored 2 points, Daniel Winn scored 2 points, and Kale Ovsak and Carter Sonnenberg rounded out the scoring with 1 point apiece.
Friday
Perham hit nearly 60 percent of their shots from the field and went 11-16 from behind the 3-point line as they defeated Frazee 85-26 on Friday night. Perham led 47-16 at halftime and forced 27 Frazee turnovers.
As a team the Hornets shot just over 31 percent from the field and 4 assists on 10 made shots.
Osvak led the way offensively with 8 points, while Vigen went 2-4 from the field for 6 points. Skyler Lehman and Helmers each scored 3 points, while Drew Mekalson, Mark Jaroszewski and Daniel Winn rounded out the scoring with 2 points apiece.
