The Becker County Board of Commissioners has created two grant opportunities for Becker County Childcare Providers:

1. The Family Child Care Startup Grant has a pool of $100,000 that is available for new licensed childcare providers in Becker County. Providers can apply for up to $10,000 to help offset some of the costs incurred in starting a childcare business.

Applicants must reside in Becker County and be in the process of becoming licensed or be a licensed provider with less than 6 months of operation.

Contact Tammy Anderson (218) 205-7176 or at Acorns2oakconsulting@gmail.com with questions.

2. The Childcare Provider Emergency Assistance Grant is for existing licensed providers who can apply for assistance for costs incurred due to business interruption from COVID-19 related restrictions and closure.

The Emergency Assistance Grant has $85,000 available in 2021 and $85,000 in 2022. Funds are calculated on a per child basis.

The following license types qualify for this grant: Certified Childcare Centers, Childcare Centers, Family/Group Family Childcare/Daycare Providers (Includes After School/Summer Programs).

Providers must be actively caring for children as of Oct. 1, 2021 and care for children other than their own. Grants will be awarded once the applicable application (Childcare Provider Emergency Assistance Grant) has been filled out and submitted.

See the application for grant guidelines and required documents that will need to accompany its submittal.

In signing the application, providers will be certifying that their business has been financially impacted by executive orders, and that grant funds will be used to cover costs incurred during COVID-19. A grant application will be available for download for 2021 until further notice. The application is located on the Becker County website www.co.becker.mn.us.
