The Frazee Fly Girls came home with a pair of top three finishes at a large meet featuring over 15 jazz teams alone on Saturday. The meet was held at Alexandria Area High School.

In jazz, the Fly Girls finished mere points out of first place as Frazee finished with a rank score of 5, compared to a rank score of 4 for YME.

Head coach Isabella Matejka said the scores were extremely close between the two teams as well, with Minnewaska taking third place.

In high kick, Frazee took third place behind just YME and Crosby-Ironton who finished in first and second place.

“The girls did fantastic on Saturday. We ended up beating 2 teams from our section that we haven’t beat all season which is awesome,” said Matejka. “We made a lot of changes during Christmas break for both dances and they turned out very well for the first meet of the new year.”

Matejka said there were about 15 teams in the high kick as well on Saturday.

The Fly Girls will have a chance to get back to practice as they do not have any meets on the schedule. They will compete in Pelican Rapids on Monday, Jan. 17 in both  the high kick and jazz. They will also compete at Hawley on Friday, Jan. 21 and at Yellow Medicine East on Saturday, Jan. 22.
