Kale Ovsak hit a pair of free throws with .6 seconds left in regulation to send Thursday’s Heart ‘O Lakes Conference game against Breckenridge into overtime.

In overtime, George Flynn hit a 3-pointer with just 6 seconds left in the game to give the Hornets a 62-60 lead in front of the Breckenridge crowd. On the subsequent possession, Ovsak came up big once again as he drew a charge with just 2 seconds remaining on the clock.

The Cowboys then immediately fouled Frazee on the inbounds play and was called for an intentional foul on a freshman member of the Hornet squad. That resulted in a technical foul being called on a Frazee player for protecting his teammate. Breckenridge hit one of their free throws and stepped out of bounds as they were receiving the ball to turn the ball over again and essentially ended the game with the Hornets on top 62-61 in overtime.

The Hornets had a solid night from the field as they shot 43.1 percent and made the most of their free throw attempts by going 13-18 from the line. Another key to the win was limiting second chance points as the Hornets had 30 defensive rebounds to hold the Cowboys to just 7 second chance points.

While the Hornets turned the ball over 29 times, they were able to limit their mistakes down the stretch to come away with their third straight win and first in the conference.

Frazee was led offensively by Flynn who scored 12 points, while Dylan Selly scored 11 and Johnathon Parsons also reached double figures with 10 points. Ovsak and Mark Jaroszewski each scored 6 points, while Asher Blaine scored 4, Alex Helmers scored 3 and Ian Cottrell rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

This week the Hornets, who are 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference, will host Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Friday night in their only action of the week.
