Frazee to host Breckenridge in HOL action

Frazee dropped a pair of home games last week as they wrapped up a five game home stand.

The Hornets opened the week with a 61-50 non-conference loss to Battle Lake, before falling to Barnesville by a score of 64-46 in Heart O’ Lakes Conference action. 

This week the Hornets, who are 3-15 on the season, will travel to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Tuesday night, before hosting Breckenridge on Thursday. They will wrap up a busy week on Saturday when they travel to Hawley for their third conference game of the week. 

Tuesday

A run midway through the first half gave the Frazee Hornets a 28-19 lead over Battle Lake at halftime on Tuesday night. The Hornets continued to push the pace in the second half as they led by double digits midway through the second half, before Battle Lake went on a  run of their own to come away with a 61-50 win on Tuesday.

Frazee shot 39 percent from the floor, and dominated the game down low with 34 points in the paint. Unfortunately, the Battlers hit seven 3-pointers and held a big advantage at the free throw line as they went 16-25 from the free throw line, compared to just 1-9 for the Hornets. Frazee also held a 39-32 advantage in rebounding in the game.

Asher Blaine led the way offensively for the Hornets as he scored 14 points to go along with 5 rebounds. George Flynn scored 13 points to go along with 9 rebounds, while Dylan Selly scored 6 points, Mark Jaroszewski scored 5 points, Carter Sonnenberg and Nathan Johannsen each scored 4 points and Adam Vigen and Ian Cottrell rounded out the scoring with 2 points apiece.

Saturday

Frazee was able to outscore Barnesville by a 35-29 margin in the second half, but couldn’t overcome its 34-11 halftime deficit on Saturday night. Ultimately, the Hornets fell to the Trojans by a score of 64-46 in HOL Conference action.

The Hornets shot just under 37 percent from the field and hit a pair of 3-pointers in the game, while Frazee held Barnesville to just 38.8 percent from the field. The Hornets finished with 14 assists on 19 made shots from the field and the two teams combined for 64 turnovers in the game. 

Johannsen led the way offensively for the Hornets as he scored 11 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Sonnenberg scored 10 points and pulled down 5 rebounds, while Vigen scored 7 points. Blaine chipped in with 6 points, Flynn and Jaroszewski and Flynn each scored 4 points and Selly and Kale Ovsak rounded out the scoring with 2 points apiece.
