In the wake of the stormy winter, students will have to attend school one Saturday to make up for time lost. During Monday’s Frazee School Board meeting, it was decided to make up one storm day with classes on Saturday, April 12. This decision was based on a survey sent to parents and staff last week, with 46 percent of the parents favoring a Saturday make-up day compared to extending the school day one hour or holding class in June. While staff overwhelmingly supported the extended day option, which would have allowed one additional class hour per day over a seven-day period, the board opted to go with the parents’ preference.
Sometime in the near future, movie audiences might see Bruce Jacobs charging on horseback across the big screen. Jacobs, Frazee, is currently in Arizona, working as an extra on The Postman, a new Kevin Costner film. The opportunity came through Jacobs’ friend Gary Dennes who, like Jacobs, grew up in Frazee. Dennes works with a Civil War reenactment group. A few years ago, he brought his group to Frazee for the Turkey Days celebration. Dennes had previously been in Costner’s Dances With Wolves. Barb adds that when the chance came to join Dennes at work on the new film, Jacobs jumped at it, even though it takes him away from home during calving season.
