Frazee to host WHA on Friday

The Frazee Hornets opened their season with a pair of wins on Thursday against Pelican Rapids. 

In their first game of the season, Frazee defeated Pelican Rapids by a score of 14-4. 

Malena Mahoney picked up the win on the mound as she pitched 6 innings and gave up just 1 earned run. She also struck out 10 hitters and gave up just 1 hit. She also led the way offensively as she went 2-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Faith Hamm also finished with a multi-hit game as she went 2-4 with a pair of RBIs as well.

In the second game, the Hornets once again had a big game from the plate as they combined to have 13 hits and 8 RBIs. They went on to defeat the Vikings by a score of 11-1. 

As a team, the Hornets finished with six doubles, including two each from Mahoney and Hamm. 

Hamm finished a perfect 4-4 from the plate with 3 runs scored, while Annika Reierson, Hailee Olson and Mahoney each finished with 2 hits.

Riyan Eckert picked up the win on the mound as she gave up 1 unearned run and 4 hits, while striking out 2 hitters in the win. 

This week the Hornets will travel to Norman County East on Tuesday and Hawley for a doubleheader on Thursday. On Friday the Hornets will host Walker-Hackensack-Akeley at 4:30 p.m.
