The Frazee track teams were back in action last week as they competed in a pair of local meets.

On Tuesday the Hornets competed at the Section 6A True Team meet in Pelican Rapids. The girls team finished in third place overall and the boys took fifth place as a team.

On Thursday the teams traveled down Highway 10 to compete in the Perham Invite.

This week the Hornets will compete at the Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Tuesday, before traveling to Ada-Borup on Thursday.

The Frazee girls took third and the boys finished in sixth place at the Section 6A True Team meet on Tuesday. The boys were just 31 points out of fourth place after scoring 1462 points.

Pelican Rapids won the boys meet with a score of 1732, while Wadena-Deer Creek scored 1575.5 to finish in second place.

Osakis won the girls meet with a score of 852, while Barnesville took second place with 829 points. The Hornets finished in third place with 793 points.

While the boys team doesn’t have a large squad, they posted a number of personal bests and filled in to compete in whatever event was needed throughout the day.

“We were very pleased our boys stepped up and earned a sixth place finish out of 14 teams,” said head coach Brian Tangen. “We are not deep and the boys responded in a big way and filled in wherever needed for a ‘True Team’ effort. We couldn’t have asked for a better effort today. In most events the boys had personal records on the year. We had many guys step out of their comfort zone to do different events to fill the lineup and they not only did that but did it very well. Great group of kids.”

Nathan Johannsen led the way for the Hornets as he took first place in the 300-meter hurdles, third place in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth place in the high jump.

Brady Crabtree took fourth place in the pole vault and Ian Cottrell also captured fourth place in the shot put.

On the girls side of the track, Rylee Moore captured a pair of first place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump to lead the charge for Frazee. She also took second place in the triple jump.
