Frazee hit its stride offensively at the end of last week as the Hornets went 2-1 in three games, while scoring 29 runs against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Thursday and Friday.

In addition to the pair of wins, the Hornets dropped a doubleheader to Perham.

This week the Hornets will travel to Park Rapids for a doubleheader, before traveling to Breckenridge for a doubleheader on Friday.

Tuesday

Frazee dropped both games in a doubleheader to Perham on Tuesday night.

In the opening game of the night, the Hornets struck first when Scott Seim hit an RBI single to right field to bring Zach Longfors across the plate to score. After Perham took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning, Seim struck again as the senior hit a solo home run to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning.

Unfortunately, Perham added 5 runs in the fifth inning and 4 more in the sixth inning to come away with an 11-2 win.

Seim led the way offensively with 2 hits, while he took the loss on the mound after giving up 7 hits and 3 earned runs. He also struck out 5 hitters over 4 2/3 innings.

In the second game of the night, the Hornets fell to the Yellowjackets by a score of 12-1. The lone hit for the Hornets was a big one as Mark Jaroszewski hit an RBI double to bring Wiley Bachmann across the plate to score. The hit made the score 10-1 in favor of Perham.

The Yellowjackets would score 4 runs in the second inning, 6 in the third inning and 2 in the sixth inning to bring the game to a close.

Jaroszewski took the loss on the mound as he game up 4 earned runs and 6 hits over 2 innings of action.

Thursday

Frazee and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale combined for 23 hits and 14 runs in a non-conference game on Thursday night. The Hornets were able to get the most of their opportunities as they came away with a tough 9-5 win.

After scoring a pair of runs on a Derek Zitzow fielder’s choice and a wild pitch in the first inning. Frazee added another run in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Hornets blew the game open a bit in the top of the third inning when they scored 4 runs  on an RBI single by Gage Post, a 2-run double by Asher Blaine and an RBI single by Longfors, all in succession, to make the score 7-1.

Frazee added 2 more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 9-3, before the Raiders scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Friday

The Hornets split a doubleheader with Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Friday night.

In the first game, the Rebels and Hornets combined for 28 hits and 27 runs. However, a 12-run top of the fourth inning for DGF blew the game open as they came away with a 23-4 win. DGF also scored 3 runs in the first inning, 5 in the second inning and 3 runs in the third inning.

Frazee got on the scoreboard for the first time in the bottom of the third inning when Scott Seim hit an RBI single and Caden Frank scored on a passed ball to make the game 11-2 in favor of DGF. Their final runs came in the bottom of the fifth inning when Mark Jaroszewski and Wiley Bachmann hit RBI singles to make the game 23-4.

In the final game of the night, the Hornets were able to outslug the Rebels by a score of 16-12 to earn a split.

Frazee was able to string together a number of hits throughout the game as they scored 1 run in the first inning, 6 in the second inning, 3 in the third inning, 4 in the fifth inning and a single run in both the sixth and seventh innings.

After DGF took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning, the Hornets were able to load up the bases with one out in the top of the second inning. That’s when Caden Frank earned a bases loaded walk to force in a run. Following a strike out for the second out of the inning, Jaroszewski  hit a 2-run double to give the Hornets a 4-3 lead. Derek Zitzow followed with a 2-run single and Kale Osvak scored on a passed ball with two outs to make the score 7-3 in favor of Frazee.

After DGF tied the score at 10-10 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Frazee retook the lead thanks to three RBI doubles and an RBI single to make the game 14-10. It would be all of the support the pitching staff would need as they were able to hold DGF to just 2 runs in the final three innings to come away with the win.

Jaroszewski came up big for the Hornets offensively as he had 3 hits and a pair of RBIs, while Seim and Zitzow each finished with 2 hits and 3 RBIs.

Zitzow picked up the win on the mound as he pitched 4 innings in relief and gave up just 2 earned runs and 4 hits.
