The Frazee Hornets dropped a pair of games to Park Rapids last week.

In their first game of the night, five errors proved to be too much for Frazee to overcome as the Hornets fell to Park Rapids by a score of 9-5. Wiley Bachmann tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second inning on an RBI double. The Panthers then struck for 4 runs in the bottom of the second inning to retake the lead by a score of 5-1.

Bachmann made the game 5-2 in the third inning when he hit a two out bases loaded single to score Kale Osvak from third base.

Frazee added a run in the fifth inning to make the score 6-3 on a passed ball, before Park Rapids answered the score in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double.

Mark Jaroszewski kept the Hornets within striking distance in the top of the sixth inning when he hit a 2-run double to make the score 7-5 in favor of Park Rapids. The Panthers added 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the game 9-5.

Bachmann finished a perfect 4-4 from the plate with a pair of RBIs to lead the offensively. Derek Zitzow went 3-4 in the loss.

Bachmann took the loss on the mound as he pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up 3 earned runs and 12 hits.

In the second game of the night, Frazee jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the top of the second inning, but fell by a score of 7-6 in walk-off fashion.

The Hornets took an early lead after scoring 6 runs in the top of the second inning after Bachmann hit an RBI single to make the score 3-1 in favor of Park Rapids. After Zitzow scored on a passed ball, Asher Blaine came through with a 2-run single to give the Hornets a 4-3 lead.

Jaroszewski made the game 5-3 with a two out RBI double, before Scott Seim scored on a passed ball to make the game 6-3 in favor of Frazee.

Park Rapids scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning and tied in the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning where it would stay until the bottom of the eighth inning when Park Rapids hit a two out RBI single to center field to give them a 7-6 win.

The Hornets had chances to win the game, but were ultimately unable to get another run across the plate. Frazee had runners on first and second base with one out in the top of the eighth inning, but stranded both runners in place.

Zitzow had another solid game from the plate as he had 3 hits, while Blaine had 2 hits and a pair of RBIs.

Seim took the loss on the mound in relief as he pitched 2 innings and gave up 1 unearned run and 2 hits.

The losses drop the Hornets to 5-8 on the season. This week the Hornets will host Menahga in a doubleheader on Tuesday, before hosting Barnesville in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference doubleheader on Thursday. On Friday, the Hornets will wrap up their regular season when they host Lake Park-Audubon in non-conference action.
