0EDA approves new face for Mahube building

Frazee’s Pop Up Shop in-town vendor area will return this summer, according to a passed motion at this month’s meeting of the Frazee Economic Authority Tuesday, May 24.
The open air farmer’s market and spot for food trucks have been in place downtown the past couple years, but were not regulated by any city ordinance.
Space is available for local vendors of produce, homemade goods, clothes, home decor, artisan foods and arts and crafts. The parking lot of the new retail building downtown at 109 Main Avenue East will be used, at least until Seip Drug moves from its current location to the building.
The first open date will be June 9 and it will run consecutive Thursdays until September 1 and the space will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
Vendors will need to sign a contract with the city and pay a one-time $10 fee. Interested parties can contact the city office for more information at 218-334-4991.
New retail space near completion
Final construction corrections to the East Main business retail space were submitted by Goldmark senior project manager Clinton Nodland, on behalf of the city, to Bristlin Construction, according to city administrator Jordin Roberts’ report.
Nodland completed his inspection on a visit in March and included changes ranging from landscaping to signage and railings on the exterior of the building. An earlier reported roof leak on the interior of the building has been repaired.
The natural gas bill for the building was switched over from Bristlin Construction to the city with a month of March bill totaling $1,272.41.
Inquiries were received for the remaining vacant retail space in the building, but have not yet produced any new lessees.
Bid approved for Mahube building
The board approved a bid of $32,169.97 from John Reading Construction to complete the demolition of the current siding on the Mahube-Otwa building and furring out the exterior walls and window wraps to accommodate new siding.
The EDA also granted permission to Mahube-Otwa to sublet a portion of the Frazee Business Center to the school district over two four-day periods in June for the purpose of hosting preschool summer school June 6-9 and July 18-21.
