Dinner to be held in Vergas June 16

Neighbor to Neighbor is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Vergas Event Center Thursday, June 16, from 5-7 p.m.

All proceeds from dinner will go towards benefiting the Neighbor to Neighbor organization.

“It’s just such a worthwhile thing to do,” volunteer Mary Olson said. “The elderly are very inspiring.”

Neighbor to Neighbor is a non-profit organization established by a group of citizens in the Frazee and Vergas communities who were concerned about helping seniors 65 and older remain independent in their homes. Along with their various services, Neighbor to Neighbor advocates for elderly mental health and general well-being.

Some of those services include: transportation; meals on wheel delivery; shopping services; small household chores; handyman services.

Neighbor to Neighbor is always looking for volunteers, something that Olson explained is personally fulfilling.

“The experiences I’ve had here are wonderful,” Olson said. “And it’s just so nice to be able to help people get to a doctor’s appointment, or get them a cane. It’s just really, really worthwhile.”
