The Frazee Area Community Club is honored to announce that they have chosen Ken and Avis Hoehne as the Turkey Day parade grand marshals, said FACC Turkey Days chairman Dawn Flemmer. “They have contributed a lot to the town of Frazee,” she noted when making the announcement recently. Ken and Avis are lifelong residents of Becker County and live in rural Frazee.
A meeting to discuss a regional park in Frazee is set for Monday, July 17 at the Frazee Event Center. A potato bar will be served at 6 p.m. The city of Frazee’s motto has been “Where the trails meet” for several years, and if Legacy Grant dollars were obtained along with several parcels of land, the regional park would be that destination.
Frazee residents Harry and Jean Sperry were recently celebrated along with the other volunteers of Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels serves Frazee, Vergas and the Detroit Lakes area. The group of 25 volunteers prepares meals to be delivered to client’s homes at the senior center in the basement of the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center.

Where’s Mom?—These abandoned ducks were found in a yard between Maple Avenue and Town Lake last week. The ducklings were released at Fischer Lake when the mother failed to appear.
Bobby and Karen Cates of Brandon, Fla. are planning to purchase Pork’s Pub in Frazee. An offer was accepted May 19, with a projected July 14 closing date, said Cates’ daughter Maureen Synhorst of rural Frazee. Synhorst, who will manage the restaurant until the Cates arrive in 1998, said a July 18 grand opening is palnned for the business, which Cates plans to rename “Pookie Booboo Bear’s Den.”
For area residents needing rides to medical appointments, help is just a phone call away. Frazee Care Center and St. Mary’s Regional Health Center have formed a partnership to meet the growing health care-related transportation needs of the region. Medi-Ride is a special transportation service available to anyone in the region who needs transportation to and from medical appointments. The door-to-door service is designed to accommodate individuals with restricted mobility, as well as those individuals simply in need of reliable transportation.
The Frazee-Vergas School District accepted a free five-acre tract of land for demolition debris burial from Dewayne Schaefer. The land is located near the compost site on County Road 29, and the agreement is dependent upon timely site approval by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

State Representative Frank DeGroat stated that he will be a candidate in the newly created legislative District 10A. This is a district designed by the federal panel of judges and Becker County was left intact. Eight townships of Otter Tail County were made a part of District 10A.
Saturday, July 1, is the big day set to take Living Color Pictures of your little ones. The Frazee Forum is having pictures taken of all children accompanied by their parents or other guardian to Bob’s Café between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. absolutely free of charge or obligation. The Frazee Forum wants to publish a picture of your child in a photographic series of local children entitled “Citizens of Tomorrow.”
The Frazee Firemen will sponsor a pancake and sausage feed on Sunday, July 2 at the Firemen’s Park on Eagle Lake. Serving is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., all you can eat for $1 per person. In case of rain the feed will be held on the following Sunday.
There will be 4th of July Fireworks Display at the Vergas Long Lake Park Monday, July 3. The display is sponsored by the Lake Sybil Rod and Gun Club and Vergas Fire Dept. In case of rain, it will be held the evening of July 4.
