UND announces spring honors list

The University of North Dakota released the academic honors lists for spring semester Thursday, July 14.

The Dean’s List, published at the end of each spring and fall semester, contains the names of students who are ranked in the top 15 percent of their college.

The student must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours at the close of the semester, eight of which must be for traditional letter grades.  The minimum GPA needed to receive the award will vary from semester to semester.

Because the Dean’s List is based on the student’s performance for that particular semester only and the President’s Honor Roll is based on sustained academic excellence across the student’s academic career, a student can make the President’s Honor Roll and not the Dean’s list.

Students named to the Dean’s List are: Ellie Morgan – Detroit Lakes; Makayla Melvin – Frazee; Madyson Melgard – Perham; Skylar Nelson – Perham and Maggie Trites – Perham.

Morgan and Melvin also took part in spring commencement ceremonies. Morgan earned a degree in Dietetics; Melvin graduated with a degree in Biology / Professional Health. Both students graduated summa cum laude.

Six area students were named to the President’s Honor Roll: Kyra Bahls; Carlie Ecker and Mckenna O’Brien of Vergas and Madyson Melgard; Skylar Nelson and Maggie Trites of Perham.

The President’s Honor Roll is the highest academic achievement for undergraduate students at UND. To qualify, a student must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or higher. The student must also have earned a minimum of 24 semester hours and have completed a minimum of 12 hours at the close of the semester, eight of which must be for traditional letter grades.

A student can make the President’s Honor Roll and not the Dean’s List. While the Dean’s List recognizes a student’s academic excellence in a given semester, the President’s Honor Roll recognizes sustained academic excellence across the student’s academic career.
