0Sellgren charged with felony theft
Chad Lawrence Peterson, 50, of Frazee has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm, a felony, in Becker County District Court.
On Thursday, June 9, special agents of the West Central Task Force and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension received information that there were guns inside a gun safe belonging to Peterson, according to court records.
Due to a prior felony second-degree drug conviction, Peterson cannot legally have guns or ammunition.
The safe held 13 guns, ammunition and three identification cards belonging to Peterson.
Peterson had allegedly dropped off the safe for another person to hold.
A warrant was issued on Saturday, June 16 and bond was set at $40,000 without conditions or zero with standard conditions of release.
Sellgren charged with felony theft
Abigail Lyn Sellgren, 18, of Frazee has been charged with felony theft in Becker County District Court.
On Friday, April 22, a Detroit Lakes police officer answered an employee theft complaint from Walmart. Sellgren was accused of committing multiple thefts over a period of months while a Walmart employee, according to court records.
According to court records, Sellgren admitted to the officer she knew what she did was wrong, but couldn’t resist the urge to steal.
Walmart determined between the dates of April 9-17 Sellgren also stole approximately $1,000 in cash from her register and the aforementioned merchandise.
Surveillance video evidence showed her taking merchandise, typically prior to or after her shift, and exiting the store without paying for the merchandise.
Sellgren was scheduled to make her first court appearance in late July.
Five locals injured in DL crash
Five Detroit Lakes residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 59 and Becker County Road 6 near Detroit Lakes Monday, July 25.
According to a report by the State Patrol, Christy Lynn Johnson, 61, was driving a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan northbound on Highway 59 and attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 6 when she collided with Elizabeth Anne Roerick, 31, driving a 2021 Subaru Legacy southbound on Highway 59.
Roerick was alone in the vehicle. Passengers in the Dodge who suffered non-life-threatening injuries were Braddley Allen Blanchard, 28, Sara Jean Freeman, 38, and Kelly Lynn Vogert, 36
Both drivers were treated by medical personnel for non-life threatening injuries. Johnson was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary’s hospital in Detroit Lakes. Roerick was taken to Essentia Health in Fargo.
