A smash and grab robbery occurred at Frazee Family Foods around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30. The thieves made off with an ATM machine, which was bolted down in the entryway of the store. Employee Kim Vincent said, based on security camera footage, the estimated time of the robbery was around 4 a.m. and it took about 3 minutes. A light-colored pickup may have been on scene at the time of the crime.
The Frazee Economic Development Authority is considering hiring an economic development specialist. During the monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 29 presenters from Community and Economic Development Associates gave a presentation to the group, outlining the benefits of signing a contract with the company. Perks included grant writers, improving the mentality of residents toward their own community and a variety of specialists.

There will be a public hearing Monday at 7 p.m. at Frazee Fire Hall to gain public input on projects estimated to cost over $2 million. The City of Frazee plans to apply for a grant to replace its water tower, make water and sewer line replacements, build a senior housing complex and rehabilitate owner occupied housing on the town’s south side.
A sculpture is progressing near Frazee’s goose pond and should be completed within one week. Artist Paul Eppling, summer resident, has donated his talents for the sculpture while locals have donated their iron and steel.

A Minnesota primary election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12 to nominate candidates for offices to be voted for at the general election on November 7. Polls in Frazee will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents are reminded of the new polling site in Frazee, the Council Meeting Room located on Main St., next to the Hartz store.
The Minnesota Highway Patrol conducted a vehicle safety check in Frazee on August 25, Frazee Police Chief James Anderson assisted the Highway Patrol and announced the following results of the safety check: Number of vehicles checked, 155; number of drivers checked, 155; number of vehicles found defective, 66; number of warnings issued for other violations, 6; number of arrests issued, 2.
