St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Evergreen encourages area residents to skip making dinner Saturday, Oct. 7. Instead, pack up the car and take the short drive east on State Highway 87 to the steeple with smiling people and break bread over a hearty meal. About 20 parishioners will serve spaghetti with meat sauce, herb toast, a variety of salads, beverages and a lemon dessert, all for a freewill offering, from 4:30-7 p.m. In addition to the lemon sweet tooth satisfier there will be plenty of baked goods to pick from to take home, as well as produce for healthy snackers.

Being a small community does not protect us from the tragedies we hear about each year through Tricks or Treating. Accidents do not only happen to other people. In view of this the P.T.A. is organizing Halloween parties for the Kindergarten thru the 12th grades. Notices will be sent home with your children enlisting your help. With enough help from Parents and Organizations, this could become an annual event. We would like to insure all the youngsters a good time with games and treats. We hope these parties will replace Tricks or Treating for safety sake. If you would like to share your treats with the children at the elementary party, please drop them off at the Star Drug.
