Raila Luminae, of Osage, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a one-car accident on Highway 34 at County Road 39 in Toad Lake Township Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 9:21 a.m.
Luminae, 58, was traveling westbound on Highway 34 and attempted to make an illegal/unsafe pass, according to the State Patrol. She subsequently ran off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.
Luminae was wearing a seatbelt and airbags deployed in her 2022 Honda Ridgeline. She was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary’s hospital in Detroit Lakes.
No alcohol was involved, according to the report. The accident occurred on dry pavement.
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and a North Memorial Ambulance crew assisted at the scene.
Bullying at school
A group of parents took to Facebook last week discussing bullying at the school. Members of that group were in attendance at Monday’s school board meeting, but had not submitted a Citizen and Delegation Request form in time to be on the agenda. A Valley News Live reporter was also in attendance.
VNL’s Nachai Taylor reported Wednesday that parents had stated that bullying at the school is “out of control.”
According to superintendent Terry Karger, an investigator is interviewing students and gathering information and noted the district takes the experience of all students seriously.
Two separate reports of harassment were made to Frazee Police on Friday, Oct. 7, while another parent was issued a trespass notice at the school Monday, Oct. 10, and left after picking up his kids and unleashing a tirade of foul language.
Citizen and Delegation Request forms are available at the school’s website under the district tab>school board>Citizen and Delegation Request form.
