The Frazee Economic Development Authority agreed to request proposals from developers for the vacant downtown lot stated to be about 28,840 square feet (206 feet wide by 140 feet deep). During its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 31, the EDA reviewed the document calling for proposals, which offers some guidelines as to what the group is seeking, such as the first floor to be commercial and the upper levels to host 20 or more one-and-two bedroom apartments.
Financial reports were approved for the first time in five months by the Frazee Economic Development Authority. After the meeting the newspaper identified two fund balances had incorrect starting balances, according to past documentation on the funds. The EDA account was short by $10,339 and the Rural Business Enterprise Grants (RBEG) was over by $42.

Next Tuesday, Americans will honor the nation’s veterans. On that day, as on every other day, WWII veteran Darwin Kraus will be on his wife Verona’s mind. Their life together, which began before the war with their romance and lasted through 51 years of marriage, until Darwin’s death in 1996, was greatly affected by Darwin’s service in the Navy. Both Darwin and Verona grew up in the Frazee-Vergas area.
Frazee’s National Honor Society members had others in need on their minds this past Halloween. In Frazee, 14 members went door-to-door soliciting canned goods, for the Becker County Food Pantry, which helps the needy. The reception in Frazee was great, said advisor Marlys Smith. “Some people who weren’t home left the canned goods outside their doors,” she said.
The one-block move for United Community Bank employees in Frazee is expected to take place during the last week in November. While the move was originally planned for early November, said Vice President Bob Cavanagh, a slight delay was caused by items on back order. Almost all of the interior will be new, with a green and purple color scheme. The bank will retain its banking equipment, such as computers and printers, but will have all new furniture inside the new building, he added.
