Their life together, which began before the war with their romance and lasted through 51 years of marriage, until Darwin’s death in 1996, was greatly affected by Darwin’s service in the Navy. Both Darwin and Verona grew up in the Frazee-Vergas area.
Frazee’s National Honor Society members had others in need on their minds this past Halloween. In Frazee, 14 members went door-to-door soliciting canned goods, for the Becker County Food Pantry, which helps the needy. The reception in Frazee was great, said advisor Marlys Smith. “Some people who weren’t home left the canned goods outside their doors,” she said.
The one-block move for United Community Bank employees in Frazee is expected to take place during the last week in November. While the move was originally planned for early November, said Vice President Bob Cavanagh, a slight delay was caused by items on back order. Almost all of the interior will be new, with a green and purple color scheme. The bank will retain its banking equipment, such as computers and printers, but will have all new furniture inside the new building, he added.
