Considerations of where to put a skating rink and hockey rink were discussed by the Frazee Parks and Recreation Committee at a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Committee members agreed to check with the school on thoughts of putting a facility behind the high school parking lot along R. L. Frazee Park. Discussions are also to be had with the Frazee Lions to gather thoughts on removing the historic log, which is decomposing.

Meghan Eastman noticed customers looking around the Third Crossing Bar and excused herself from a discussion, noting she wanted to make sure the guests had been tended to. Good service is as important as serving quality food and drinks for the 2002 Frazee High School graduate who is in the process of moving to Vergas.

An old-fashioned Christmas celebration starts this weekend in Vergas as the town will light up Saturday, Nov. 25. Main Street businesses joined the city in an effort to decorate the downtown and all holiday lights will be turned on around 5:30 p.m., including the city’s official Christmas tree in front of city hall. In addition to enjoying a light show,  the event will feature a petting zoo, sleigh rides and a live nativity that will even include a camel.

The Frazee City Council approved the gift of United Community Bank’s building to the Frazee Economic Development Authority. At a special city council meeting on Monday night, the vote was unanimous to accept the building. The intent of the motion made at Monday’s meeting was that taxes would not be levied to pay for this project. Clerk Teri Osterman explained this didn’t have to be part of the motion as the city council is in control of the levy. Expenses would also need to be approved by the EDA/city council, she noted.

Frosty morning—Sunday’s hoarfrost turned the area into a winter wonderland.
