Longtime Frazee resident Aleisa Jopp îs making her dream of owning a little shop come true. “I wanted to call my new little shop the ‘Chic Shed’ as I love designing and decorating.” The Chic Shed opened Nov. 25 during Small Business Saturday, and the support for her dream shop was overwhelming. “It was one awesome day and I loved the many laughs and conversations, and the compliments,” Jopp added.

The Hornet Singers will be one of three talented acts to take the state Sunday, Dec. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at the Vergas Event Center for a Christmas concert. The Frazee High School musical group will join Dr. Rand Stolee and Band of Fifth as performers. Stolee will feature music on the piano and Band of Faith is an instrumental group from Pelican Rapids, while the eight girls and three guys in the Hornet Singers will showcase their versatile voices.

Will there be snow in time for the sixth annual Snowplow Parade in Frazee tonight, Thursday, Nov. 30? The parade starts at 6 p.m. and any vehicle made for snow or moves snow is welcome to join the parade.

Frazee will be twinkling with the Christmas spirit the weekend after Thanksgiving. The annual Festival of Trees will run this Friday through Monday at Ketter’s Korner in downtown Frazee. Over 25 large trees will be designated by local businesses and clubs and light up the location. Theme trees, decorated with Santas, dairy cows, stones, porcelain dolls, nativity sets, Dalmatians and other seasonal decorations, will be included in tis festive show. None of the same themes are being repeated from last year; this will be an all-new show. Other displays include a set of 40 porcelain seasonal dolls and a Barbie Doll Christmas collection.

What is the actual cost to the Frazee-Vergas School District of a salary percentage wage increase? During Monday’s school board meeting, school board president Lowell Bradbury reviewed two options to clarify costs to the taxpayers. Presently, negotiations with teachers are on-going, and the Frazee Education Association has asked for an annual 3.5 percent salary increase for 1997-98 and 1998-99, Bradbury said.

The Frazee Community Club will sponsor Santa Claus Day in Frazee on Saturday, Dec. 16. Roger Nelson is chairman, and John Rethwisch, assistant chairman for Santa’s visit here. A free movie for children will be shown at 2 p.m. in the high school auditorium, and Santa will pass out bags of goodies after the film. Mothers with children too small to attend the movie may bring their children to the VFW Hall from 2 to 3 p.m. to pick up candy bags of the children and take pictures with Santa if they desire.

The Becker County Historical Museum is now open Saturday afternoons to the general public, according to Frank Long, president of the Becker County Historical Society. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 2-5 p.m. Otto Zeck is the museum curator. With the Saturday afternoon opening it is hoped that more area residents and visitors will be able to view the articles on display. The museum is located in the basement of the Court House.

The Frazee Jaycees are in the need of used toys and toys needing minor repair to carry out their “Project Santa Claus” this year. If you have any used or repairable toys to donate for this project, give them to a Jaycee member.
