Notes from the Chief

Friday, Dec. 23

7:30 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle not normally parked in a neighborhood. Officer tracked down the owner who was out snowplowing and the vehicle was parked at the house where the skid steer was being stored.

8:17 a.m. Report of a dog that wandered off. Dog returned on his own.

9:06 a.m. Report of a vehicle in the way of snowplowing on N. River Drive. Officer talked with owner and vehicle was moved.

12:20 p.m. Report of a female in a car stuck on the RR tracks. Vehicle was moved before the train came through.

3:21 p.m. Vehicle parked on N. Lake St in a no parking zone. Driver moved vehicle.

Monday, Dec. 26

3:59 p.m. Welfare check on a male party.  Girlfriend took male to the ER.

11:51 p.m. Assist with a train vs vehicle in Ottertail County.

Tuesday, Dec. 27

Happy Anniversary to my parents of 53 years. That’s the same model year as my ex-wife!

12:22 p.m. Vehicle unlock on Balsam Ave.

1:29 p.m. Vehicle in the snowbank in the Dollar General parking lot. Male driver transported to the emergency room.

8:20 p.m. Neighbor reporting of a disturbance on Rivercrest Drive. Officer arrived and found some loud revelers. More of a case of a nosy neighbor not minding their business. 

Wednesday, Dec. 28

9:06 a.m. Disturbance on E Main Ave. Male and female arguing because they both woke up crabby, female wanted a smoke but male had smoked the last one. Parties were calmed down and male left to get more smokes.

4:32 p.m. Welfare check requested on an adult male. Officer did not find said male, but was told he was with relatives.

9:58 p.m. 911 call with female yelling on the line. Dispatch called number and it was a pocket dial with a female yelling for her dog.  

Thursday, Dec. 29

7:59 a.m. Motorist assist on N River Drive with a vehicle being stuck in the snow by the mailbox.  Officer shoveled some snow and helped push the vehicle out.

8 p.m. Disturbance between neighbors over snow removal on S Lake St.

8:27 p.m. Assist drug task force at the PD.

10:20 p.m. Vehicle off the road on Co Hwy 10 west of town. Officer gave the male, female and two small kids a ride home. Vehicle was towed out in the morning.

11:14 p.m. Report that patrons were not leaving the VFW when asked. Officer arrived and asked that patrons respect the wishes of the bartender and start heading out as this is a private business and can close when they see fit. Patrons left in an orderly manner.

Friday, Dec. 30

11:28 a.m. Report of a loose dog at 512 Balsam Ave. Owner warned of the loose dog and to register the dog with the city.

2:17 p.m. Report of theft of items from home and suspect is roommate. Under investigation.   

5:27 p.m. Officer asked to standby while mom and son retrieved car from former residence.  Roommate was not home, vehicle was taken by owner.

Saturday, Dec. 31

8:36 p.m. Assist with a rollover on St Hwy 87 about 8 miles east of town.

11:54 p.m. Stray dog found on E Main. Dog taken to Lucky Dog in Detroit Lakes.

1:32 a.m. Officer gave a ride home to some revelers who were plenty full.

Monday, Jan. 2

8:06 p.m. Assist in looking for a male who was in violation of a court order.  Unable to locate.

Wednesday, Jan. 4

1:20 p.m. Warning to driver for parking in no parking zone on N Lake St.

3:33 p.m. Elderly female out for a walk and confused. Officer brought her home, husband was there.

4:06 p.m. Suspicious male in town, walking around. Officer identified the male who was homeless and let him be on his way.

4:34 p.m. Employee background check for local business.

4:58 p.m. Reporting party wanting documentation of possible violation of Human Services Safety plan. Foster parent has seen relatives near the kids who are not supposed to have contact.

5:22 p.m. Suspicious male reported on W Main. Officer talked to business manager and explained we knew who the male was and that we were keeping an eye on him.

9:24 p.m. Assist with a medical.

10:19 p.m. Third call on the male wandering around.  Same information given.

2:02 a.m. Threats reported on Cherry Ave.  Matthew Alcorn, 48, Hays MT, arrested for disorderly conduct. Hailee Johnson, 26, Detroit Lakes, arrested on Becker County warrants.  Adam Lehman, 39, Detroit Lakes, arrested on Becker and Clay County warrants.

Thursday, Jan. 5

9:29 a.m. Parking complaint on W Juniper. Tow company was on its way.

9:42 a.m. Parking complaint on W Maple again. 

10:07 a.m. Driving complaint on E Main with a small red pickup causing issues.  

3:27 p.m. Assist with a medical.

5:33 p.m. Civil issue with former tenant wanting to know how to get their stuff back. Officer gave advice as to how go about getting their property.

6:28 p.m. Assist a driver with snow and ice caught in the wheel wells of the car.
