Frazee came up just short of picking up its third Heart O’ Lakes Conference win of the season on Thursday night as the Rebels defeated the Hornets by a score of 46-37. The loss drops the Hornets to 7-12 on the season and 2-8 in the conference.

This week the Hornets traveled to Breckenridge on Monday night, before hosting Ada-Borup West in their final home game of the season on Thursday. On Saturday the Hornets will travel to Concordia College in Moorhead to take on Barnesville in HOL Conference action. 

Jan. 27

Jayden Sonnenberg recorded a double-double and three Hornets reached double figures in scoring as the Frazee Hornets secured their second conference win of the season on Friday, Jan. 27. The Hornets defeated the Hawley Nuggets by a score of 66-37, after defeating Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in conference action by a score of 43-40 just two weeks earlier. That win against the Rebels snapped a 30-straight game conference losing streak.

Sonnenberg scored 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 6 steals, all team highs on Jan. 27. 

Kate Vigen had a solid night from behind the 3-point line as she scored 14 points after going 4-5 from behind the 3-point line. She also hit both of her free throw attempts. Riyan Eckert also reached double figures as she scored 13 points go along with 8 rebounds. Hailey Selly filled the stat column with 6 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

Jayden Sonnenberg scored 22 points, came away with a game high 9 steals and pulled down 4 rebounds as the Frazee Hornets picked up their second straight win on Jan. 28. The Hornets secured a 66-37 non-conference win over the New York Mills Eagles as part of a boys-girls doubleheader in NY Mills. 

Hailey Selly had a solid night from the field as she scored 10 points to go along with 3 rebounds, while Riyan Eckert just missed out in joining them in double figures with 9 points and 4 rebounds. 

Brynn Larson scored 6 points and pulled down a team high 7 rebounds in the win. 

The win was the second win for the Hornets in less-than 24 hours as they defeated Hawley on Friday night in Frazee.
