Hornets drop a pair in HOL action

Frazee fell to 4-14 overall and 0-10 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a pair of losses last week.
On Thursday the Hornets fell to Hawley by a score of 64-25, before falling to Barnesville on Saturday by a score of 75-45 at Concordia College in Moorhead.
This week the Hornets will make a trek up north to Moorhead to take on Park Christian in non-conference action, before traveling to Breckenridge on Friday night to take on the Cowboys.
Thursday
Hawley shot 61 percent from the field and forced 21 Frazee turnovers as the Nuggets defeated the Hornets by a score of 64-25 in Heart O’ Lakes Conference action on Thursday night.
The Hornets trailed 29-7 at halftime, but picked up their offensive output a bit in the second half as they scored 18 points in the final 18 minutes of action. Most of the Hornets’ damage on offense came in the paint as they scored 14 of their 25 total points down low.
Carter Sonnenberg led the way scoring as he finished with 10 points, while Adam Vigen scored 7 points, Zachary Longfors scored 4, Nathan Longfors scored 2 and Asher Blaine and Kale Ovsak each scored 1 point for Frazee.

Saturday
Frazee and Barnesville got the opportunity to play on the collegiate stage on Saturday as the Hornets and Trojans played a conference game at Concordia College in Moorhead. Frazee was able to nearly double their point total from Thursday night, but it still wasn’t enough as the Trojans edged the Hornets by a score of 73-46.
The Hornets shot 35 percent from the field and hit five 3-pointers, but ultimately 25 turnovers proved to be too much to overcome. After trailing by a score of 41-18 at halftime, Frazee was able to play right with the Trojans in the second half as Barnesville outscored the Hornets by just a 32-28 margin.
On the positive side the Frazee defense forced 22 Barnesville turnovers and forced 13 defensive deflections. The Trojans were able to hold a big advantage in the paint where they outscored the Hornets by a 46-18 margin.
Adam Vigen led the way offensively with 12 points, while Asher Blaine finished with 11 points. Carter Sonnenberg had a solid all-around night as he finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
