The Frazee Fly Girls went to the State Tournament Feb. 16-17 and came back champions in both jazz and high kick. Frazee won state in jazz before, but this is a first-time accomplishment for the high kick team, and a first-ever for the district to sweep both events.
The Frazee-Vergas School District recently hired ICS Consulting representatives to create a master plan for the future of the district’s facilities. The plan is two include input from the administration, staff, school board and public. During the monthly school board meeting Monday, Feb. 12, the Blaine-based business said the process of collecting information had begun.
Students at Frazee High School shared with the school board how a recent retreat impacted them and their classmates. During the board’s regularly scheduled meeting Monday, Feb. 12, retreat organizer Ta Fett explained the opportunity came about through funds gifted to the district by the Never.Give.Up. 5K event.

Charges are pending on a fire which totaled a home on East Balsam Avenue in Frazee Friday morning. The state fire marshal and the Frazee Police Department are working together on the case. Fire Chief Paul Jacobs said there appeared to be at least three different ignition source areas in the home. Currently, lab tests are being performed to see if an accelerant was used, and if so, what type of accelerant, Jacobs added.
The Ratz dairy farm has completed a drastic change, which was made possible by planning, technology, and hard work. The family-owned and operated farm located between Frazee and Vergas will ring its second century next year with about 500 cows. Of those animals, about 420 will be cows milked three times daily.
Frazee’s Economic Development Authority hopes to get a kick start for its budget with the sale of the former United Community Bank building. Friday, EDA officials will meet at 4 p.m. in the basement of city hall to open the offers it has received on the former bank building. The building was donated to the EDA, which is operated by the City of Frazee, Jan. 1.

Twenty-three cars of a 50-car Burlington Northern freight train derailed about 2 a.m. on Tuesday a mile west of Lake Park. Both the east and westbound tracks were blocked by the derailment, but there were no injuries. BN officials said both tracks were expected to be cleared by Wednesday morning.
A truly “pop” scene will be the background for the Frazee High School Pop Concert to be held Friday, March 9 at 8:00 p.m. The concert is going to be sponsored by the Senior High Chorus, and will be directed by Mrs. Joyce Kelly.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Trieglaff, who own 750 acres in Burlington Township about 1 1/2 miles northeast of Frazee, were honored as the outstanding dairy couple in Becker County at the Honored Dairymen’s Banquet held during the Red River Valley Winter Shows at Crookston.
